Lower turnout than expected for Amgen Bike Tour in Avila Beach

Months of planning flew by in minutes on Thursday after the cyclists cross the finish line on Front Street in Avila Beach. Many businesses said they flourished, and other didn't, but race organizers still called the event successful, projecting long term benefits for the city.

It's a quiet day so far in Avila Beach, but in just a few hours, dozens of cyclists will roll into town.
The finish line of Stage 5 of the Amgen Tour of California is right in front of the beach in Avila.
Cyclists are expected to arrive around 3:45 pm on Thursday.
