Wildfire readiness exercise set for this weekend

This Saturday, May 18th, fire departments from San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties will participate in a readiness exercise designed to simulate a wildfire burning on the Nipomo Mesa west of Highway 101 between Los Berros Road and Willow Road.

62-year-old New Jersey man killed in Sunday morning car accident

The California Highway Patrol says a 62-year-old New Jersey man was killed in a fatal rollover crash in Nipomo Sunday.
The man was driving a jeep cherokee when he hit a guardrail.
He was towing a boat at the time. The boat trailer detached, and the car flipped over the guardrail. The car continued to roll down an embankment
Officials say the driver was not wearing a seat-belt.
The driver's name has not yet been released.
