The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation says an inmate attacked a correctional officer at the California Men's Colony in San Luis Obispo with a handmade weapon on Wednesday.

Firefighters are working to clean up a fire at a Cal Poly dorm on campus. The first started at 7:39 Wednesday night in the Corralitos building of Poly Canyon Village.
