Spatafore withdraws from SLO City Council race

John Spatafore announced on Monday that he has withdrawn his candidacy for an open seat on the San Luis Obispo City Council.

Spatafore says he decided to drop out of the race because he believed his candidacy may splinter the vote.

Locals get a Taste of SLO at Fifth Annual fundraising event

The fifth annual Flavor of SLO event was held Sunday.

A team of Cal Poly students paired up with the local non-profit, United Way of San Luis Obispo, to put on the event.

The SLO Noor Clinic hosted its Third Annual "A Journey By Foot" charity walk Saturday morning.

Special Olympics athletes compete at Cuesta College

Local Special Olympic Athletes competed in the annual Spring Regional Games area meet on Friday.

420 athletes competed at Cuesta College in events from track and field to aquatics.

Time capsule being buried at Cuesta College

A time capsule is being buried at Cuesta College in honor of the school's 50th anniversary, and the community is invited to attend.

The capsule was built by students in the college's welding program and includes various planning and accreditation documents, along with other items of significance to the college this year.

The burial is happening at Cougar Park on the San Luis Obispo campus at 1:30 p.m.

The capsule will be dug up in 25 years.

Verdict reached in trial of former Cal Poly assistant football coach

Randy Hanson, Cal Poly's former defensive backs coach, was found guilty Monday on charges of assault and battery.
