Kids get to paintball with law enforcement

Some middle schoolers in Santa Maria got a chance to hang out with law enforcement Saturday, for fun.

The city Parks and Recreation Department teamed up with the Shack Paintball Field to host a free trip for the kids.

Students who are part of the Abel Maldonado Youth Center were invited.

The center is open to students in the 7th through 12th grades. There are activities available all summer long.

The jury in the Shane Villalpando trial has reached a verdict.

Villalpando, a former St. Joseph High School student, was found guilty Wednesday of three felony counts of unlawful sex with a minor.

The jury was deadlocked, 11-1, on a count of rape of an intoxicated person.
