    Firefighters battling small vegetation fire near Lopez Lake

    CAL FIRE crews, with help from the Los Padres National Forest Service, are battling a small vegetation fire burning near Lopez Lake.

    The fire started before noon Thursday off Ditmas Road. That's near High Mountain Road on the south side of the lake.

    So far, flames have spread about one-quarter of an acre and one structure is threatened, according to CAL FIRE.

    One person killed in structure fire in Santa Barbara

    One person was killed Thurday night in a structure fire that started on the 100 block of South Quinientos Street in Santa Barbara.

    The fire started just after 8:00p.m.

    Police officers first on the scene found a male victim who suffered severe burns. The victim was immediately taken to Cottage Hospital. Once firefighters gained control of the fire, they found a body inside the structure.

    The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

    Fire in California Valley likely caused by tractor

    A spokesperson for CALFIRE says a small grass fire Wednesday afternoon in California Valley was likely sparked by a tractor.

    The fire was spotted by a CALSTAR helicopter around 1:15p.m. Wednesday off Soda Lake Road just north of Highway 58. Flames charred about five acres of grass.

    No structures were threatened.

    Firefighters battling small grass fire in California Valley

    CALFIRE says firefighters are battling a small grass fire from the air and ground in California Valley.

    The fire was spotted by a CALSTAR helicopter around 1:15p.m. Wednesday off Soda Lake Road, north of Highway 58, according to a CALFIRE spokesperson. When firefighters arrived, flames had spread around five acres in grass.

    With a light wind, firefighters say the flames have the potential to spread around 25 acres. No structures are currently threatened.
