A U.S. Forest Service representative says the White Fire started Monday at the White Rock Day Use Area, located off of Paradise Road in the Los Padres National Forest in southern Santa Barbara County.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the fire had burned 1,800 acres and was 10% contained.

Residents displaced from the White Fire will be allowed back in the area after 6 on Tuesday night according to the US Forest Service.

This isn't the first time the area where the "White Fire" is burning has burned.
In late June of 2007, the Rancho Fire broke out in the same area, five miles north of Santa Barbara near Paradise Road.
482 acres burned in that fire, less than half of what has already burned in the White Fire.
No structures were damaged and there were no injuries.
It took four days to put the fire out.

Santa Barbara County Fire officials say the White Fire burning off of Paradise Road in the Los Padres National Forest has grown to 1000 acres and is 5% contained.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office estimates that 4,000 to 6,000 people have been evacuated from the area.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The conditions near the "White fire" off the 154 in Santa Barbara county look challenging overnight, the area is under a wind warning:
Low temp 47-51 deg, Max RH 70-75% then falling to 50-55% after midnight, North wind gusts up to 55 mph.

The American Red Cross is setting up a shelter for evacuees of the White Fire currently burning in the Los Padres National Forest in southern Santa Barbara County.
The shelter is located at the Wake Center at 300 North Turnpike Road in Santa Barbara.
Food and beverages are available.
Animal Services will be setting up a pet shelter for small animals.

Santa Barbara County Fire officials say the White Fire, burning off of Paradise Road in the Los Padres National Forest, has burned 700 acres.

Santa Barbara County and USFS firefighters are battling a wildfire in the Los Padres National Forest.
It broke out around 2:40 on Monday afternoon in the White Rock area off of Paradise Road, east of Lake Cachuma.
