Cal Fire continue to make good progress on building containment lines around the Calf Fire that is burning just east of Santa Margarita.

The fire is now 80% contained and has burned approximately 620 acres.

Fire officials are expecting to have full containment by Thursday morning.

Parkhill Road between Hwy 58 and Seven Oaks has been reopened to residents only.

There has been a report of one injury to a firefighter.

There has been no casualties.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

Cal Fire says they currently stopped any forward movement of the Calf Fire and it is not longer spreading or getting bigger. The fire has burned 620 acres and is currently 30% contained.

Fire officials say they are expecting to have it fully contained by Wednesday morning.

Evacuations are still underway for residents whose homes are on Parkhill Road between Hwy. 58 and Seven Oaks.

Cal Fire says they are will reevaluate the evacuation hold this afternoon.

Cal Fire say the Calf Fire that is burning east of Santa Margarita is now 30% contained and has burned approximately 620 acres.

The evacuation order is still underway for residents who live on Parkhill Road between Hwy. 58 and Seven Oaks.

Cal Fire says the evacuation order will remain until fire officials can evaluate the fire this afternoon.

There are no casualties or structures threatened.

Red Cross Center has an evacuation center open at Santa Margarita Elementary School.


Update: Fire Crews continue to battle the Calf Fire in Santa Margarita

Cal Fire and San Luis Obispo County Fire Department are currently fighting the Calf Fire burning just east of Santa Margarita.

The fire has burned approximately 640 acres and is now 20% contained.

An evacuation order has been issued for the homes on Parkhill Road between Hwy. 58 and Seven Oaks Road.

Fire officials say the evacuation order will remain in effect until the morning that's when Fire Commanders will re-evaluate the situation in the morning.

Although the fire is located in very rough terrain making access difficult for firefighters, Fire Commanders say they are "cautiously optimistic to be able to hold the fire lines."

An evacuation shelter has been set up by the American Red Cross at Santa Margarita Elementary School.

The Horse Emergency Evacuation Team has also set up facilities at the Templeton which is located in the 200 block of North Main Street .

Cal Fire is saying the Calf Fire is now 20% contained and the fire has burned 700 acres. Cal Fire originally reported the acreage burned as 750 acres but after gaining more control and a better estimate of the acreage burned.

Mandatory evacuations are still underway for residents who live on Parkhill Road between Hwy. 58 and Seven Oaks.

The road is currently closed at Park Hill Rd but Hwy. 58 is now open.

There is an evacuation center currently set up at Santa Margarita Elementary School. Red Cross says they have a capacity to hold up to 60 people.


Update: Calf Fire Fire has grown to 750 acres in Santa Margarita

Cal Fire says the fire is currently burned 750 plus acres.

Cal Fire continues to battle the Calf Fire that is burning east of Santa Margarita.

There is a evacuation warning for Parkhill Road between Hwy. 58 and Seven Oaks.

The fire started Monday at 11:30 am.

The California Highway Patrol has closed down the road at the intersection of Highway 58 and Parkhill Road.

Crews on scene are saying the fire is heading north, burning grass, brush and oak woodlands.

The San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Department has issued a reverse 911 call for the fire notification.

There are currently 205 personnel fighting the fire and fire officials are saying the rough terrain is making it difficult for firefighter to access the fire.
