Officials with CAL FIRE say the Turkey Fire is now 60 percent contained.
The fire started around 11:30 a.m. Monday near Turkey Flat and Cholame Roads outside of Parkfield in Monterey County. CAL FIRE crews from San Luis Obispo County and Monterey County are being assisted by firefighters from other county agencies.
The fire was holding at approximately 2,700 acres Tuesday afternoon. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

CAL FIRE officials say more than 350 fire personnel are still battling a 2,700 acre wildland fire near Parkfield that started around 11:30 a.m. Monday.
The fire sparked near Turkey Flat and Cholame Roads. By Tuesday, 28 engines, 14 hand crews, four bulldozers and three water tenders from fire departments in several different counties had been called in to help fight the flames. There was little activity overnight Monday because of lower temperatures and decreased winds, CAL FIRE officials said.
The fire was 30 percent contained Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. The cause is under investigation.

CAL FIRE officials say 2,700 acres have burned near Parkfield in Monterey County as a result of the Turkey Fire.
The fire started around 11:30 a.m. Monday near Turkey Flat Road and Cholame Road north of the Highway 41/ Hwy. 46 intersection. Flames are not threatening any structures.
Crews from San Luis Obispo, Monterey and Santa Barbara Counties are battling the flames. As of 3:40 p.m. Monday, firefighters had the fire 30 percent contained, according to CAL FIRE.
