A Cal Poly alumnus is on his way to becoming an astronaut.
Navy Lt. Commander Victor Glover is one of eight people named to NASA's 21st astronaut candidate class.
Glover was chosen from a pool of more than 6,000 applicants.
He graduated from poly with a degree in engineering in 1999.
When Glover completes the training, he will become the fourth Cal Poly alumnus to serve as an astronaut.

A Santa Barbara man is in jail for attempting to murder his roommate.
Police say 43 year-old Daniel Andrick stabbed his roommate in the neck while the victim slept.
Both Andrick and the victim were living at a sober living home for men.

A San Luis Obispo computer businessman was charged for possessing and distributing child pornography. He was indicted by a federal grand jury last week.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's officials say they recovered a panga boat in the county.

A child was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries after a car rolled over in Santa Barbara.
Police say a Honda Civic rolled on its side after hitting two parked cars on West Gutierrez Street.
The parked vehicles did not have anyone in them.
Three people were also checked for injuries but were okay.
