RICHMOND, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a man was killed when his car veered off an expressway and plummeted more than 100 feet into a ravine in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The San Jose Mercury News reports several witnesses reported seeing the Mini Cooper swerve off the Richmond Expressway and over the steep embankment early Sunday.
Richmond police Det. Nicole Abetkov said the car rolled more than 100 feet before coming to a rest upside down at the edge of a swamp. The driver, who was alone in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not immediately released.
No other cars were involved in the crash.
