CAL FIRE confirms there was a shark sighting Sunday in Avila Beach.
The sighting was reported around 12:30 p.m.
Firefighters say a 10 to 12 foot shark was spotted about 1.5 nautical miles from the beach and three-quarters of a mile southwest of the Avila Pier.
Advisories have been posted notifying beach-goers of the shark sighting. They will remain posted for 72 hours.
A shark bit a surfboard in Oceano on July 5. That same day, there was a shark sighting in Pismo Beach.
