Officials at the Santa Maria Fire Department are investigating the cause of a house fire that happened Sunday afternoon.
It happened at 1 p.m. in the 900 block of College Drive. Four fire engines, one truck company, and a battalion chief responded.
Firefighters say the fire started in the garage and progressed into the house. They were able to get the fire under control in about 30 minutes.
Eight adults and four children lived in the residence. Officials say they were all able to get out of the house, and no injuries were reported.
Fire investigators say they're still looking into what caused the fire.
The home was ruined in the fire. A board up company secured the building. Red Cross was notified and is making arrangements for the people who lost their home.
They estimate at least $150,000 in structure damage, and $25,000 worth of their belongings were damaged.
