SANTA MARIA, Calif. (AP) Fifteen Santa Maria residents were displaced by a weekend fire in an apartment building.
The blaze erupted in the four-unit building just before 7 p.m. Sunday and was extinguished by four engine companies.
The Santa Maria Fire Department estimates damage at $100,000 to the structure, plus $40,000 for contents.
None of the seven adults and eight children living there were harmed.
The American Red Cross arranged for two of the families to stay at a motel. Red Cross emergency services manager Pamela Voge says the others stayed with family or friends.
