The Cal Poly women's soccer team lost its first Big West match of the season, 4-0 at Cal State Fullerton. The Mustangs are still in first place with 17 points and a 5-1-2 conference record. UC Irvine is one point behind Cal Poly at 5-1-1. The top four teams advance to the Big West Championships in Irvine starting on November 1.
The only goal of the first half came in the 34th minute when Stacey Fox headed one past Mustang keeper Alyssa Giannetti.
The Titans added goals in the 46th, 77th and 87th minutes.
The Mustangs took nine shots to the Titans 24. Giannetti made 11 saves for Cal Poly.
The win improves Cal State Fullerton to 5-2 in the Big West.
Cal Poly finishes regular season play next Sunday, at home against UCSB. The Gauchos are 2-5-1 in the Big West.
