SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) - Alan Williams scored 27 points and clocked in a career-high 20 rebounds to lead UC Santa Barbara in a decisive 84-65 victory over UC Davis on Saturday night.
Williams went 11 of 16 from the floor and racked up 10 points and 12 rebounds by the end of the first half for the Gauchos (14-6, 5-2 Big West).
Corey Hawkins' layup put UC Davis ahead with the first basket of the game, but UC Santa Barbara led the rest of the way and the Gauchos went up by 14 at intermission.
UC Davis combined for an improved 40.7 shooting percentage from the floor after shooting 32.1 percent in the first half. Ryan Sypkens scored 22 points and five 3-pointers to lead the Aggies (7-15, 2-5).
UC Santa Barbara was one of three teams tied for first place in the Big West Conference heading into the game.
