Down 2-0 at the half, the Cal Poly women's soccer team came back to win 4-3 in double overtime at Long Beach State. The win improves the Mustangs to 4-0 in Big West play, 7-5-1 overall.
Cal Poly cut into the 2-0 deficit in the 70th minute when Elise Krieghoff found the back of the net for her seventh goal of the season. Three minutes later, Sara Epps scored on a rebound to tie the match at 2. In the 82nd minute, Krieghoff scored again off an assist from Epps to give the Mustangs a 3-2 lead. Long Beach State's Eileen Maes scored in the 88th minute to square things at 3.
It stayed 3-3 until the second overtime when Epps scored her second goal of the game and her second game winning goal of the season. The goal came in the 106th minute.
Cal Poly goal keeper Alyssa Giannetti made five saves. The loss drops Long Beach State to 2-2 in the Big West.
The first place Mustangs play Cal State Northridge at home on Friday at 7:00pm.
