2 big airlines propose merge

DALLAS (AP) - American Airlines is about to get bigger. It plans to merge with US Airways, and an announcement is expected today.

American has been under bankruptcy protection since late 2011, and a judge and antitrust regulators would need to approve the deal. If it goes through, the new airline, still called American Airlines, would be the world's biggest airline.
