CARMEL, Calif. (AP) - Two scuba divers who died while diving off the coast of Monterey County have been identified as a husband and wife from San Jose.
An official with the state Parks and Recreation Department says 40-year-old Volodymyer Butsky and his wife, 41-year-old Marina Butsky, died while scuba diving at Point Lobos State Natural Reserve Friday afternoon.
Eric Abma, an acting sector superintendent for the department, says emergency crews were called to the park when the couple's daughter told a park employee that her parents were overdue.
Abma says when rescue crews arrived Marina Butsky had been pulled out of the water by two other divers who had found her face down in the water. Firefighters on a boat recovered the body of her husband.
The incident remains under investigation, and the exact cause of their deaths has not yet been determined.
