SALINAS, Calif. (AP) - Two men have been killed when their small plane crashed in a California field three miles south of Salinas Municipal Airport.
Monterey County firefighters found the bodies in the wreckage at dawn Sunday. Names haven't been released.
There was no fire.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allen Kenitzer tells the Monterey County Herald that the single-engine Extra Flugzeugbau EA-300 is designed aerobatic competition and carries a pilot and passenger in tandem cockpit seats.
The cause of the crash hasn't been determined.
The crash is being investigated by FAA and National Transportation Safety Board investigators.
