ENCINITAS, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say the man suspected of shooting and injuring two San Diego County sheriff's deputies in a standoff has killed himself.
A sheriff's department spokeswoman says residents who were evacuated from their homes near the ordeal in Encinitas will be allowed back into their homes soon.
The 22-year-old man, apparently upset by a restraining order obtained by his mother, had been keeping deputies at bay several hours after the deputies were wounded.
Both deputies are expected to survive.
