A 20 year-old man from Cambria is dead, and a 27 year-old man is under arrest after an ATV crash early this morning.

It happened around four a.m. on San Simeon Creek Road near Red Mountain Road.

California Highway Patrol says 20 year-old Justin Anthony Evans was the passenger in an ATV being driven by 27 year-old Garret John Taylor, also from Cambria, when the ATV collided into a tree.
They say Taylor was heading westbound on San Simeon Creek Road, in an ATV he had taken without the owner's permission, when he rounded a curve in the road, and allowed it to drift to the shoulder.

Evans died after the ATV struck an oak tree, head on.
Taylor suffered major injuries.

CHP says he was arrested at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center for felony DUI and vehicle theft.
