Sometimes, police and other law enforcement officers can come off as scary, but on Sunday, local officers wanted to get rid of that perception.
It was the 20th Annual Cops N' Kids Field Day Sunday in Arroyo Grande.
Kids and families were invited to the Soto Sports Complex to meet with local law enforcement officers in a fun, friendly atmosphere.
There were officers from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office, CHP, FBI, and dozens of local police departments.
"The whole philosophy of this was to allow a day just for the cops because a lot of times, people don't understand it, but the law enforcement community is thought of as the ones that, they're holding people back in the crowds, arresting people, giving out tickets, maybe why the other people are getting accolades, you know, for saving lives and stuff," said Jay Conner, the Co-Founder of the event.
The event takes place every year on the first Sunday of November.
