VENTURA, Calif. (AP) - Southern California authorities have arrested 21 people in connection with selling prescription medications including Adderall, OxyContin and Xanax on the internet.
The Ventura County Star reports investigators arranged to purchase 14 different drugs from people who advertised controlled substances for sale on Craigslist.
The suspects were from Ventura, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara Counties. They are charged with the sale of narcotics.
Ventura County Assistant Sheriff Gary Pentis said almost half of the drugs involved were illegally prescribed by 63-year-old Kiansi Boni, an Oxnard doctor arrested in July.
Pentis said the sellers didn't even bother using code words and blatantly advertised the drugs on the website.
The arrests were made by the Ventura County Interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit.
