LOS ANGELES (AP) - Three people were killed when their Cadillac Escalade hit a tree and burst into flames in South Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey says a neighbor called 911 at 2:49 a.m. Sunday to report the wreck. Los Angeles police Sgt. Susie Padilla says responders found two men and one woman dead inside the car. A man, who had been sitting in the backseat, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
Padilla says the vehicle was driving eastbound on Coliseum Street in a residential neighborhood when it collided with a tree near Westside Avenue. She says no other vehicles were involved and the SUV left skid marks.
It was foggy Sunday morning, but it is unclear whether that contributed to the crash. The incident is under investigation.
