4 heat records fall Wednesday

Cal Poly hit 99 degrees on Wednesday, 96 was the old record from 1979.

Santa Maria also broke a record for heat today hitting 100, 92 was the standing record from 1922.

Santa Barbara's airport (actually near Goleta) hit 98 snapping the old record of 90 in 1970.

Lompoc hit 95 which was dramatically higher than the standing record of 84 in 1967.

Generally highs today were 20-30 degrees above average.
