(KUSA) Police arrested, Ryan Cole Stone, 28, the man who stole a red SUV early Wednesday morning with a child inside. The suspect then led police on a chase, ditched the red SUV and carjacked two additional vehicles before crashing.
He fled on foot when police chased him down and arrested him.
It started around 6:20 a.m. when police were following a red SUV with the 4-year-old boy inside.
He was inside a 2008 red Ford Edge when it was stolen from a gas station in Longmont.
At 7:30 Wednesday morning the suspect jumped out of the red SUV on I-76, forced a driver and passenger out of a gold minivan and took off in the second stolen vehicle.
The people who were forced out of the gold van were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The 4-year-old boy, Allan Chavarria-Rodriguez, was found safe in the red SUV.
Police began chasing the stolen gold minivan.
Finally, the suspect jumped out of the minivan and forced a woman out of a silver sedan. He sped off in his third stolen vehicle of the day.
The suspect hit a trooper with the silver sedan at E-470 and Chambers. The trooper was taken to Littleton Adventist Hospital with serious injuries.
The suspect then crashed the silver vehicle, fled on foot and was caught by police at Peoria and Lincoln.
Stone was wanted on an arrest warrant out of Arapahoe County for dangerous drugs. He had a long criminal history and served time in prison for menacing and weapons charges. His parents live in Longmont.
Longmont police say that this all started Tuesday when there was an F-350 parked in a man's spot. He called police. When police ran the plate, they realized it was stolen out of Arapahoe County.
Police arrested Julie Pawlak, 19. Pawlak told police that she and her boyfriend Ryan Stone had stolen the truck.
