HESPERIA, Calif. (AP) - A fast-moving wildfire along the main interstate between Southern California and Las Vegas has grown to about 500 acres.

U.S. Forest Service spokesman John Miller says the fire began around 1 p.m. Friday and covered 500 acres in two hours.

The fire has closed heavily traveled Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass area of the high desert northeast of Los Angeles. An evacuation was ordered as the fire moved northwest toward large ranch homes in the Oak Hills area.

Miller says a firefighter has been hurt, but he doesn't know the extent of the injury. One motorist suffered smoke inhalation.
