San Luis Obispo Police say a 500 pound black bear was spotted roaming a residential street early Wednesday morning, and reportedly killed a resident's chickens.

Officers received the call around 12:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of Andrew Street. Police say when they arrived on scene the bear had moved to the 1800 block of San Luis Drive, where it found a chicken coop. The bear apparently forced its way into the coop and killed some of the chickens.

Police say they used pepperballs to get the bear back into the mountain area.

This is the same neighborhood that had a bear spotting in 2010.
