A seven run first inning led the Mustangs to a 13-3 win over Northern Illinois on Tuesday night in Baggett Stadium. The Cal Poly baseball team pounded out five consecutive run-scoring hits in the bottom of the first and never looked back.

Jordan Hadlock drove in four runs in the game with four hits, including a triple. Sophomore Matt Jensen added three hits, while four other Mustangs had two hits a piece. Cal Poly put together 20 hits in the win.

Sophomore right hander Mason Radeke, a Santa Barbara native, earned his third win with four strong innings of work. He tied a career high with 8 strikeouts. Together, Cal Poly pitchers struck out 16 NIU batters.

Cal Poly improved to 5-6 with the win. Tuesday's game was the first of five home games this week for the Mustangs. Cal Poly hosts NIU on Wednesday night. First pitch will be at 6 pm. Houston comes to town for a three-game series on Friday.
