One of buildings in the Cal Poly Police Department was evacuated Monday morning after a suspicious package was found outside police chief Bill Watton's office.

Around 8:30 a.m. a police department employee reported a backpack in the office building, which is typically closed off to the public. The San Luis Obispo County Bomb Task Force was called in to x-ray the package. Results showed suspicious wires, so a robot was brought in to open the backpack.

The task force found a laptop and stereo plug. The building was back open shortly after 11 a.m.
