A local hospital rings in a special anniversary.

Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center turned 50 on Sunday.

It held a birthday celebration, complete with a cake, former doctors and local leaders, like Congresswoman Lois Capps. In fact, seven of the original 21 founding physicians were at the event. "You know you wonder what is going to happen in another 50 years, what this place will look like and the city will probably grow and the hospital will also," said founding physician, Alden Fogo. Sierra Vista opened its doors with 53 beds at a cost of about $500,000. 50 years later, it now has 164 beds and a $65-million payroll.
