Accused murderer pleads not guilty to killing ex-lover in Paso Robles

The woman accused of murdering 37-year old Victor Sanchez in Paso Robles on February 23 was arraigned in a San Luis Obispo County courtroom on Monday.

50-year old Maria Fajardo pleaded not guilty. The Paso Robles Police Department said Fajardo is Sanchez's ex-lover.

KSBY received a copy of the charges filed by the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office against not only Fajardo, but four other defendants -- David Hernandez, 37; Louis Madrigal, 19; Alejandro Anguiano, 19; and Edgar Ontiveros, 18. Police said those four are currently on the run.

The documents reveal more about how Fajardo allegedly orchestrated Sanchez's murder.

It all allegedly began in the fall of 2012 when Fajardo met Hernandez and offered to pay him money to kidnap and injure Sanchez. In October, Sanchez was attacked by a group of people and suffered a broken nose and arm. Then in February, according to the documents, Madrigal, Anguiano, and Ontiveros were hired to hurt Sanchez again.

The District Attorney's Office said, after a day of planning, Ontiveros shot Sanchez dead, in front of Sanchez's Paso Robles apartment complex.

Fajardo allegedly paid $8,000 in cash for the job, according to the documents.

She is charged with murder, conspiracy to commit a crime, second degree robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon.

It's believed Hernandez is hiding out in Mexico. Police said Madrigal, Anguiano, and Ontiveros are in Modesto, and are considered armed and dangerous.

Fajardo is expected back in court on August 15.
