Arroyo Grande High graduate Andre Dome has been named the Big West Conference's Men's Tennis Player of the Year. The junior becomes the second individual from Cal Poly and the first since 1998 to earn Player of the Year honors.
Dome dominated Big West competition with a 7-0 record and did not drop a set in any match. He posted a 16-4 record overall in dual matches at the #1 singles spot. He is currently ranked 40th in the nation and has defeated six nationally ranked opponents this season. All sixteen of his wins have come in straight sets.
UC Santa Barbara's Marty Davis was named Coach of the Yearfor the seventh time in his 14 year career with the Gauchos. The seven awards set a new Big West record. UCSB finished second in the Big West and knocked off 36th ranked BYU and 22nd ranked Texas Tech.
Dome, fellow Mustang Brian McPhee, as well as UCSB's Mathieu Forget and Benjamin Recknagel were named to the All-Conference First Team. Cal Poly's Matt Fawcett and the Gauchos' Mbonisi Ndimande were Second Team picks.
The Mustangs' doubles team of Dome and Fawcett received All-Conference First Team honors. Brian McPhee and Jordan Bridge garnered Second Team accolades.
