Arroyo Grande High thrower Brandon Berguia verbally committed on Monday to Long Beach State.
Berguia said he chose LBSU over UC Davis, Cal State Bakersfield and Sacramento State.
The senior continues the Eagles' long line of successful throwers. Berguia ranks fifth in the state this year in the boys shot put with a mark of 58 feet, 9.5 inches, which he recorded at the Arcadia Meet. He also ranks 23rd in the state in the discus throw at 168 feet, 3 inches.
Brandon becomes at least the eleventh member of Arroyo Grande High's Class of 2012 to commit to a Division I level program.
He plans to sign his National Letter of Intent in the near future.
