The Arroyo Grande girls water polo team beat Glendora St. Lucy's, 7-6 in the CIF-Southern Section Division 3 semifinal on Wednesday afternoon. The match was played at the Woollett Aquatic Center in Irvine and advances the Eagles to Saturday nights championship which will also be played in Irvine.
Third seeded Arroyo Grande fell behind second seeded St. Lucy's, 4-0 in the second quarter before fighting back to take the lead, 6-5 in the fourth. St. Lucy's tied it at six before the Eagles scored the winning goal with 1:30 remaining.
The Eagles will play top seeded Murrieta Valley in the championship on Saturday at 6 p.m. Murrieta Valley beat the Eagles in Arroyo Grande earlier this season and are the defending Division 3 CIF Champions. Murrieta Valley eliminated Arroyo Grande in the semifinals last year.
