Arroyo Grande police say officers are not investigating a crash that injured an Arroyo Grande High School student Tuesday afternoon as a texting and driving incident.
According to earlier reports from Five Cities Fire, anecdotal information showed the driver may have been texting and driving.
The accident happened around noon Tuesday. Officials say the 17-year-old's car left the road and rolled multiple times off Fair Oaks Avenue. It landed in a field just west of the Fair Oaks/Valley Road intersection.
Officials say an eyewitness told them the car was going at a high rate of speed before the crash, which left pieces of the car scattered in the field.
Arroyo Grande police say the teen sustained minor injuries.
The crash is still under investigation.
