The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department and the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District has issued an air quality watch for Santa Maria. It will remain in effect until Monday morning. The forecasted high winds may produce elevated particle levels in the air. On Tuesday, September 17, 2013, the Santa Maria monitoring station recorded levels slightly over the state standard. People sensitive to dust in the air should limit time outdoors and avoid outdoor exercise when a high concentration of dust and particles are in the air. People with lung or heart disease should be especially cautious.
