According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, two air tankers are now on scene helping to fight a 15-acre brush fire in the Painted Cave area off Highway 154. The air tankers arrived at 9:30 a.m. and are currently making drops.

Firefighters are up against warm weather and moderate humidity.

So far, no homes or structures have been lost, but homes continue to be threatened. The painted cave area, which includes about 100 homes, is under a mandatory evacuation order.

Highway 154 is open in both directions but county roads, including Painted Cave Road, are closed.
