AGUA DULCE, Calif. (AP) - The man accused of driving the wrong way on a Southern California freeway, causing a chain-reaction crash that injured 11 people, has been charged with drunken driving.
City News Service reports 54-year-old Rick Allen Walker of Canyon Country pleaded not guilty Wednesday to four counts of DUI causing injury.
The crash happened just before evening rush hour Monday on the northbound 14 Freeway in Agua Dulce. The impact scattered debris and damaged vehicles across all lanes, creating a traffic jam that stretched for miles.
Three of the injured were hospitalized Monday in critical condition.
Walker's bail was set at $430,000, and he was ordered to return to court June 27.
