The American Red Cross is opening an evacuation point for residents evacuated by the Lookout Fire. The location is 300 North Turnpike in Goleta. The evacuation point has snacks and beverages as well as continuous updates on the fire's status.
The Red Cross has released the following safety tips for people living in areas of the wildfire: be ready to leave at a moment's notice, listen to local radio and television stations for updated emergency information, always back your car into the garage or park it in an open space facing the direction of escape, confine pets to one room so that you can find them if you need to evacuate quickly, and arrange for temporary housing at a friend or relative's home outside the threatened area.
Officials are urging everyone who is told to evacuate to do so immediately.
