Amgen Tour will not pass through SLO

According to the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce, the Amgen Tour of California will not pass through San Luis Obispo in May.

The Chamber says AEG, the Los Angeles based sports and entertainment company that coordinates the cycling race originally wanted San Luis Obispo to be a starting point for the race, but later asked if the city could be a stage finish.

The city decided not to take the offer because of higher costs to host the tour and increased production efforts.
