One in five Americans struggles with a lifelong disability, and millions of Americans have served in Iraq and Afghanistan and returned home with disabilities. To make life a little easier for everyone impacted by a disability, Ampsurf is hosting its 8th Annual Operation Restoration event this weekend.
Ampsurf is a non-profit dedicated to empowering people through adaptive surfing and other activities.
The event kicked off Thursday, and surfing started Saturday morning.
"We try to create a fun-filled, full weekend, exposing them to the ocean, surfing, and the mental freedom that being out in the ocean can provide you," said Randy Miller, the Director of Operations for Ampsurf.
The event continues Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. near the Pismo Beach Pier. Everyone is invited to go out and show support.
