The Los Angeles Angels won the Zach Greinke sweepstakes. The Angels agreed to send three prized prospects to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for the former Cy Young Award winner.
The right-handed pitcher is 9-3 with a 3.44 ERA this season.
The Brewers receive shortstop Jean Seguar, the Angels' top position player prospect. They also acquired Double A pitchers John Hellweg and Ariel Pena.
Greinke joins a rotation that already includes Jered Weaver, C.J. Wilson and Dan Haren.
The Angels started the day 54-45 overall and 5 games behind the Texas Rangers in the American League West. The Angels are on top of the AL Wild Card standings.
