The dog that gained notoriety for being at the center of a custody battle is now being called on to energize a political fundraiser. An anonymous donor bought Chuck Hoage and his dog Annie a ticket to a dinner for San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's candidate Joe Cortez. A dinner is being held for Cortez at Thousand Hills Ranch in Pismo Beach. The Cortez campaign says that since news got out about Annie being there ticket sales have increased. Cortez says, "I can't wait to meet her and as we talk to folks that are coming to our fundraiser, there really excited about the opportunity to meet Annie as well. She captivated a lot of hearts in this community."
Annie's owner Chuck says this isn't the first event he's been invited to since Annie was returned to him last week. He says everyone wants a piece of Annie. "It's kind of fun to have a celebrity, It's amazing you drive down the road and she's in the back seat and everybody's beeping and waving because they see her."
Chuck says he supports Cortez in the sheriff's race. The Opponent for Cortez in the sheriff's race is Ian Parkinso, In a statement he say's this about Annie appearing at the Cortez dinner. "I am happy that Annie 's situation appears to have been resolved and I wish all the parties involved only the best." Cortez says he expects to be upstaged by Annie on Saturday night but is alright with that.
