Antibiotics don't help with common cold

The season for sneezing and coughing is upon us and for those looking for relief, antibiotics probably won't be much help.
A new study of 2,000 adults finds, for the most part, those given amoxicillin didn't feel better faster or have fewer symptoms than patients given a placebo drug.
Some of the patients given the placebo reported new symptoms during the study, but more people taking the antibiotic experienced side effects like diarrhea and rash.
Experts say most people will get better on their own and doctors should avoid prescribing amoxicillin to low-risk patients who don't have pneumonia.
