Applications being accepted for CHP public safety dispatchers

The California Highway Patrol in San Luis Obispo is looking for four new public safety dispatchers.

CHP was at the downtown farmers' market in San Luis Obispo Thursday night recruiting.

CHP is holding a public information seminar for the positions next Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the CHP office in San Luis Obispo.

There they will talk about the application process, how to get the job and how they can help you.

CHP says dispatchers bring calm, professional help to those in need.

"We touch so many lives and they don't know who we are. We are behind the scenes but it's so rewarding to do this kind of work," says Doug Showalter, CHP Public Safety Dispatch supervisor. "Dispatchers all over the country do such a great job and nobody knows who they are, they are the unsung heroes out there."

They say they are looking for people with customer service experience.

You have until September 25 to turn in your application.
