The CIF Southern Section, Division-2 Swimming and Diving Championships were held on Saturday in Riverside. Arroyo Grande sophomore Zach Stevens had the best finish of the local competitors. Stevens finished second in the 100 yard breastroke. Stevens has already qualified for the US Olympic trials in June.
Arroyo Grande senior Mia Schachter finished third in the girls 100 yard backstroke. Schachter will swim at Tulane next year.
Atascadero senior Dustin Bolt finished fourth in the boys 500 yard freestyle and eighth in the 200 freestyle. Bolt broke the Pac-7 record in the 500 freestyle by 13 seconds at the Pac-7 Championships.
As a team the San Luis Obispo boys finished ninth, the Tigers won a 12th straight Pac-7 League title this year. Arroyo Grande was 15th as a team, Crescenta Valley won the boys team title. The Arroyo Grande girls finished ninth, the Eagles have won the Pac-7 title the past two seasons. Esperanza won the girls championship.
