PHOENIX (AP) - Jodi Arias, convicted in May of first-degree murder in the death of her ex-boyfriend, makes an appearance in court in Phoenix today.
Her attorneys are ready to ask a judge to toss out the jury's decision that the 2008 killing of Travis Alexander was "especially cruel," a finding that allowed the panel to consider the death penalty.
About two weeks after Arias was convicted, the same jury failed to reach a unanimous decision on whether to sentence her to life in prison or death.
