Arrest made in burned steer case

Paso Robles police say they have arrested a man in an animal cruelty case dating back to October.

Garrett Kaplan, 23, was taken into custody on Friday. He faces felony animal cruelty charges for allegedly burning a steer at Paso Robles High School.

The steer, named Panda, was Dylan Wilkinson's FFA project. He still plans to show Panda at the Mid-State Fair this July.

Panda recovered from his burns thanks to help from the community, including donated supplies and medicine.
